It can be very easy to get caught up in our own lives and stop looking at the World as a wider community, job and family constraints often occupy the majority of our time and we can forget about the millions in the world who are less fortunate than ourselves. If you can take the time to stop and think, there are so many ways in which you can help out, it doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, in fact, even the smallest gesture can make a big difference. If you want to give something back then here are some great ways in which you can do exactly that.
Donations
Donating money is a way in which you can help out these in difficulty and is the perfect way to do so if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands. It is interesting that when there are fundraising events on the television that people can give so much, this is because the problems are being put directly in front of people and it encourages them to help. When living our daily lives it is easy to forget that these problems exist for more than one night. So many organizations rely on fundraising in order to continue their good work. Take the Synagogue of All Nations (SCOAN) for example, the Nigerian church gave over $500,000 of aid to Ecuador after the 2016 earthquake and sent hundreds of humanitarian workers to Haiti after the tremor that struck the country, without donations this would not have been possible.
Volunteering
Making some time each week and dedicating yourself to volunteering is a great act of human nature and one that will not only help those you are volunteering for, but also help you to feel a sense of personal reward. There are literally thousands of ways in which you can volunteer, you could help out at a local hospital, soup kitchen, an orphanage or a pet sanctuary, your help would be greatly appreciated and you would be changing lives with your gesture. If you want to volunteer then take an honest look at your weekly schedule and see if you can’t make an hour or two a week to help those less fortunate than yourself.
Giving Instead of Selling
When you are finished with any old products or clothing, instead of looking to make some money out of them then why not give them to a charity so that they can sell them and make some profit. Worse still, many of us don’t even sell the stuff that we don’t use any more and far too often we simply throw it to the back of the closet and let it languish there until we decide to have a clear-out. Why not spend some time raking through all of your old things and find anything that is in good condition that you’re not using anymore. Take it down to the local charity shop and let them make some money from it.
